Outokumpu, world’s leading stainless steel producer has introduced a new range of enhanced and formable high-strength advanced stainless steels with high mechanical strength to meet the complex profiles and high pressure conditions with technical customer support for the ever growing Indian market.
Mr Lennart P Lofgren, Senior Product Manager, Speciality Stainless, Outokumpu, APAC, said that “The properties of stainless steel, together with Outokumpu''s ability to offer the most efficient steel grade with technical customer support, have made sustainable solutions possible. We hope some of our references activates your ideas. In order to create feasible solar energy, the material needs to be long-lasting and maintenance-free to ensure low life cycle costs. In solutions for water purification such as desalination equipment and processes, salty seawater combined with high temperatures create a corrosive environment. Stainless steel offers the optimal material for these processes.”
Mr Lofgren said that “High-strength grades enable the use of thinner gauges in a variety of applications such as tanks, pressure vessels and piping, and also in transportation, civil and structural engineering solutions. This leads to considerable savings in material costs, application weight and enables more efficient sustainable life cycles with corresponding energy savings and reduced emissions.”
Mr Yatinder Pal Singh Suri, Country Head, Outokumpu, said that “The development of new stainless steel grades allows, for example, green building requirements to be reached with the added corrosion resistance that helps to increase the whole structure''s lifespan of bridges and civil structures. The properties of stainless steel, together with Outokumpu''s ability to offer the most efficient steel grade with technical customer support, have made sustainable solutions possible.”
Mr Suri said that “Outokumpu stainless steel is an excellent solution for sustainable construction. As described elsewhere, the properties of stainless steel already makes it a sustainable choice. Outokumpu can also provide products that have CE marks as required by the EU Construction Products Regulation and additional information is available in the form of Environmental Product Declarations and LEED or BREEAM fact sheets. Almost all steels are also eligible for registration in BASTA, the Swedish database for sustainable construction materials.”
He said that “High strength stainless, in addition to its many desirable properties, can also be tailored to increase safety. For example, high strength stainless steel can absorb up 60% more collision energy in case of accidents.
