"Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently called for more toilets to be built in the country, especially in rural areas. We would like to explore how stainless steel could be used efficiently in making such toilets. NID has had a history of coming out with innovative design that have helped the society. We are in talks with the institute for a similar research tie-up where NID could help us revolutionise stainless steel as a commodity and come up with some out-of-the-box," said an ISSDA member.
Research and innovation are also being explored for stainless steel''s utility in sectors like construction, automotive, Railways and transport, among others.
"The biggest growth potential for stainless steel is in building and construction, followed by automotives, Railways and transport. Also, other usages and design will also be explored such as environment friendliness and safety adherence in making playground equipment for children," the ISSDA member added. Confirming the talks, one of the faculty members at NID added that a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) may also be signed between the institute and ISSDA.Under the tie-up while NID would come up with innovative designs and utilities of stainless steel, ISSDA would ensure potential commercialisation of the same.
"We will also work with downstream system of stainless steel once certain amount of design and innovation has been achieved," the ISSDA member added.
