As in previous years, the rise was due, in particular, to higher production figures in China. In 2014 the People’s Republic achieved yet another above – average increase in steel production by 11.6 per cent, reaching 89m tons. In the same year 54 percent-over half the world’s steel tubes-was produced in China. China is even more dominant in seamless hot-rolled steel tubes, where its share in global production has reached two thirds now.
In the market, both stainless steel seamless pipe and stainless steel welded pipes are popular. Stainless steel seamless pipe and stainless steel welded pipe can be used in many fields. For example, they can be used for water and oil transportation, ship building, boiler and heat exchanger industry and so on.
Different stainless steel pipes are consisting of different elements. These elements have large effects on the performance of the stainless steel welded pipe. For example, the Manganese improves hot-working properties and up to 2% has no effect on strength, ductility and toughness. Above 2% increases yield strength and tensile strength (as in the 201 grade). According to the materials the pipes contain, the stainless steel welded pipe can be classified into many grades. 304, 304L, 306 and 306L are widely-used grades of stainless steel pipes.
