Thailand launches AD investigation on pipe imports from Vietnam- The 20th China (Guangzhou ) Int’l tube & pipe Processing Equipment Exhibition

Thailand started antidumping investigation against pipes and tubes imports from Vietnam. The trade case was initiated by the Department of Foreign Trade following a petition from domestic steel representatives Cotcometalworks Co., Thai Metal Trade, Pacific Pipe. Asia Metal. Thai Coon Steel Co, according to the announcement published in the Government Gazette on August 22,2016. Petitioners stated that imports from Vietnam soared, causing damage to local steel industry and affecting the companies’ operations. The product under investigation include welded steel pipes and tubes in all kinds under 169 HS codes, excluding seamless steel pipes and tubes, and welded steel pipes and tubes with an outside diameter of 406.6 mm.
Vietnam is the largest supplier of welded pipes to Thailand. Thus, during January-June 2018, the share of Vietnam in Thailand’s total pipe imports was 58%. Metal Expert learnt. Besides, according to the customs statistics, Thailand increased imports of pipes from Vietnam by 68% to 139,0271 year-on-year in H1 2018.
