EU's safeguard measures cause decline in steel plate imports- The 20th China (Guangzhou) Int’l Plate metal, Bar, wire, Metal Processing &Setting Equipment Exhibition

According to the newest statistics from European Steel Association (EUROFER), the total import quantity to the EU declined a lot, especially hot-rolled coil (HRC), cold-rolled coil (CRC) and hot-dip galvanized coil (HGI).
In August, HRC import quantity increased by 17.8% to 626,000 tons roughly compared to the same period last year, but declined by 18.9% from last month. Among them, the imports from Turkey were around 276,000 tons, down by 1.67% month on month, but up by 167% year on year; those from Italy were around 161,000 tons.
As for CRC, the imports totaled around 16,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.54% and a month-on-month drop of 20%. Among them, the imports from Ukraine were around 31,000 tons, up by 81.5% month on month; those from South Korea were around 39,000 tons; those from Turkey were down by 49.8% month on month to 34,000 tons roughly; those from Brazil were around 7,600 tons. Italy and Belgium were also the main imported sources.
For imports of HGI in August, the EU''s total imports decreased by 19.7% to 371,000 tons roughly compared to the same period last year, also down by 13.2% from last month. Among them, the largest sources were from China, totaling around 140,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 27%. The other major importers included Belgium, Italy and Spain.
