The software in question is now integrated online as part of the production process, meaning that temperature control from the electric arc furnace (EAF) to the continuous caster is more precise than before, says SST.
According to SST, process stability is optimized across all stations, minimising temperature buffers and consequently lowering the EAF tapping temperature. The result, claims SST, is permanent energy andCO2 savings as well as increased process stability.
The commissioning of the software took just three months due to an intense collaboration between Marienhuette and SST.
“After a successful Go-Live, Marienhuette is now increasing process stability even further, thus significantly reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The development and commissioning of the software was carried out in good co-operation, quickly and with low personnel costs.”

SST claims that the software supplied ''reliably guides the operators through their processes''.

SST opens North American subsidiary
Smart Steel Technologies has opened a North American subsidiary in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Michael Peintinger will be leading the company as managing director. Jacqueline Peintinger will be serving American customers as sales manager and analyzing customer needs.
SST plans to build a local team of engineers and project managers to unify data landscapes using its data platform and design process improvement projects applying Artificial Intelligence software based on these findings. Project implementation and maintenance will be carried out by SST USA to guarantee fastimplementation times and a quick return of investment.
