EU starts more investigation towards Tata Steel-ThyssenKrupp merger-The 20th China (Guangzhou ) Int’l Casting product Exhibition

Tata Steel and ThyssenKrupp were both flat carbon steel and electrical steel producers, which were located at the European Economic Area (EEA). The merging between Tata Steel and ThyssenKrupp was making the Europe’s second-largest steel company.
The EU started an investigation to check whether the merger between these two big steel companies will violate the bloc’s merger rules and decrease effective competition in the supply of different high-end steels or not.
It was very critical and important for the European economy to provide competitive prices in the global steel markets. The investigated areas covered steel related to automotive applications and metallic coated steel for packaging and grain oriented electrical steel.
The EU was worried that after the merger the steel clients might face a reduced options for suppliers and also higher prices. The steel clients referred to many big, medium-size and small European companies. The EU Commission had 90 working days from now to March 19th, 2019 to make decision on this merger investigation.
